A collaboration commercial titled "You've Got a Good Face When You're Full" between the anime "Haikyu!!," based on the popular volleyball manga by Haruichi Furudate, and the sports drink "Aquarius" (Coca-Cola Japan) has been released on YouTube. The commercial shows the protagonist, Hinata Shoyo, a first-year on the Karasuno High School volleyball team, working up a sweat as he practices with his teammates Kageyama Tobio, Tsukishima Kei, and Yamaguchi Tadashi, and refueling with Aquarius during breaks. The impressive footage shows him giving it his all to each and every ball, and celebrating when he makes a spike, and was produced by Production IG, the company behind the anime.
The collaboration will also be featured in outdoor and transportation advertisements nationwide, including at MIYASHITA PARK (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo). Aquarius will have a booth at the "Haikyu!! FAN PARK" event to be held at Makuhari Messe (Mihama Ward, Chiba City) on June 7th and 8th.
"Haikyu!!" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from February 2012 to July 2020. The story follows Hinata Shoyo, who suffered a crushing defeat in his final official match in middle school, as he reunites with Kageyama Tobio, a member of the opposing team, at the Karasuno High School volleyball team, where they move on to higher education, and the two of them aim to reach the top. The total number of copies of the comics, including digital versions, published is over 70 million.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to September 2014, the second from October 2015 to March 2016, the third from October to December 2016, and the first cour of the fourth season aired from January to April 2020 and the second cour from October to December 2020. The first part of the film version "Haikyu!! The Movie FINAL" series, "Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump", was released in February 2024 and was a huge hit, grossing over 20 billion yen worldwide. There is also talk of a sequel, "Haikyu!! The Movie: VS the Little Giants", being produced.
