The latest footage from Disney & Pixar's new animated film "Elio" (released August 1st) was released on April 17th. The footage depicts the adventure and bond between the lonely Elio and the lonely alien boy Grodon, with a unique worldview and beautiful visuals that are characteristic of Pixar.
The main character, Elio, is a lonely boy who loves space. He believes that he will one day go to space in search of his place in the universe. One day, his wish comes true and he is mistaken for the "Earth's leader" and transported to a space summit in space where leaders from various planets gather. The film depicts Elio meeting his space friends, forming bonds with them, finding his place in the universe, and growing up. The film is directed by Madeline Sharafian, who was a story artist on "Coco" (2017), Domee Shi, who was the director of "Me and the Red Panda" (2022), and Adrian Molina, who wrote and co-directed "Coco".
The latest footage released this time begins with a scene of Elio's lonely and desolate life with his aunt Olga, difficulty making friends at school, and not fitting in anywhere, believing that "there must be a place for me somewhere, not here." One night, believing that "somewhere on a faraway star, I have true friends," Elio dreams of going into space. A spaceship appears in front of Elio, and he arrives at the dream world "Communiverse," where leaders from various planets gather and connect the stars. There, Elio meets Grodon, an alien boy who is just as lonely as he is.
The two explore the vivid universe together, leaning against each other and confessing their feelings that they had always wanted a friend, deepening their bond. Eventually, a crisis involving the Earth occurs, and the two stand up to save the Communiverse... The encounter with unique aliens and the grand adventure in the distant universe are colored with vivid expressions unique to Pixar, and the video foreshadows an emotional adventure fantasy in which Elio grows through an encounter that changes his fate.
