"The House in the Middle of Nowhere" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sunday 7:58 p.m.) is a variety show that uses satellite photos to find a remote house. The April 13th broadcast will introduce a farmer in the mountains of Gunma Prefecture who grows over 100 types of chili peppers from around the world.
The satellite photos obtained by the search team showed a large area in the middle of the mountains, with neatly arranged fields. When they showed the satellite photos to a male resident in the nearest village, he replied, "I think an elderly woman who runs a tomato farm and lives alone there..." The man led the way to a house in his light truck.
The search team left the village and continued climbing the steep mountain path. As they left the dense forest road, they came across a red log cabin-like building with a triangular roof. An 83-year-old woman greeted them. She had moved to this area alone from Tokyo at the age of 55, and her second son (52) comes to tend to the fields about three days a week.
The second son grows over 100 types of chili peppers, not only from Japan but also from around the world, including Mexico and India. Some of them are rare, such as the sweet "Kaleidoscope" and Dragon's Breath, which is said to be the second hottest pepper in the world. He sells the chili peppers he grows online. The trailer also shows the second son making super spicy Bhutanese food.
The woman who owns the house got married in her 20s and had two children. From the age of 38, she became a foster parent and raised six children in 14 years. She even went on a bicycle trip of over 1000 km with her children and was interviewed by newspapers and magazines. The woman's turbulent life story is told...
The guests are former E-girls member and actor Anna Ishii, and Sho Hasumi, leader of the eight-member unit Dow 90000.
