The official promotional video for "Araiguma Calcal-dan," an official spin-off anime of the classic anime "Rascal the Raccoon" that aired in 1977, has been released on YouTube. The work depicts the members of the Tama branch of the secret society Karkar Group, which has the goal of world domination, working hard on their missions, and is also attracting attention for featuring a star-studded cast of voice actors such as Jun'ya Enoki, Taku Yashiro, Kensho Ono, Yohei Azagami, and Kenjiro Tsuda.
The PV shows scenes where the characters are speaking, and in particular, you can hear the cute voice of Akakaru, played by Enoki. Enoki commented, "Akakaru's voice is about the same pitch as the characters I played when I debuted, so I think it's a range that people who know me haven't heard much about."
It was also announced that the four-member band Hanabie will be performing the theme song, "Karugaru Everyday!!". The song was unveiled in this PV. Hanabie members said, "We mixed the worldview of the anime with the intensity and looseness of Hanabie to create a song full of chaos. It's an energetic song that will make you want to give yourself a perfect score for the hectic days you spend every day!"
The anime's broadcast times were also announced, with it being aired on Yomiuri TV every Thursday at 12:54am starting from April 3rd, and on BS Nippon TV every Saturday at 11:28pm starting from April 5th.
"Rascal the Raccoon" is being produced as a commemorative project for the 50th anniversary of Nippon Animation, the studio behind "Rascal the Raccoon."
"Rascal the Raccoon" is based on the novel "Harukanaru My Rascal" by Sterling North. It was broadcast in 1977 as the third installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series. Set in Wisconsin, the story depicts the year that the main character, a young boy named Sterling, and the raccoon Rascal spent together.
