It has been announced that a new news program called "Saturday LIVE News Zigzag" will be broadcast on Saturdays from 11:55 am to 1:30 pm on the Nippon Television Network starting April 5th. It will be produced by Yomiuri Television and will be hosted by actor Yukiyoshi Ozawa.
Ozawa has experience as a commentator on variety shows, but this is his first time starring in a news program. "I'm now 50 years old, and this is a new challenge for me. I'm a little nervous, but I'm more excited than anything," he said.
The program will be hosted by Yomiuri TV's Natsuyasu Adachi, and news commentary will be provided by the station's special commentator Tatsuyuki Takaoka. The broadcast time of "Meshidora," which was broadcast at the same time, will be changed and will be announced at a later date.
◇Comment from Yukiyoshi Ozawa
I've been a commentator on programs before, and it was often the case that I developed the story within the program, but this is my first time leading a program. When I first heard about the role, I was surprised and asked, "Are you sure it's me?" However, I'm now 50 years old, and I'm going to take on a new challenge. I'm a little nervous, but I'm more excited. As Ozawa Yukiyoshi is doing it, I want to cherish my own individuality. I'm an actor. What will it be like when an actor handles the news? I think it's a big challenge.
I also want to be an extension of the viewers. When I don't understand the news, I think being able to honestly ask "Why is it happening like this?" is one of my unique characteristics. I would like to be able to ask people with specialized knowledge frankly and be a bridge between the viewers and the news. Together with my colleagues on the show, I would like to tell the viewers, "Why is the news happening like this?"
