Actors Suzuka Hiroshi and Matsumoto Honoka will co-star in Fuji TV's Monday 9pm drama "Usouki Rhetoric" (Mondays 9pm), which will begin airing on October 7th. This is a mystery drama in which the unusual duo of Iwai Souma (Suzuka), a poor detective with an extremely sharp eye who is drowning in debt, and Urabe Kanoko (Matsumoto), a woman with the strange ability to tell lies apart, tackle difficult cases. The first episode will be broadcast 15 minutes longer.

The story is based on the manga of the same name by Tsudo Ritsu, which was serialized in Bessatsu Hana to Yume (Hakusensha) from 2012 to 2018. It is a popular work with a total of 1 million copies in circulation. This will be Suzuka's first lead role in a drama series in the golden prime time slot (7pm-11pm) and his first lead role in a Monday 9pm drama. This will be Matsumoto's first Monday 9pm drama appearance in eight years since "Someday I'll Cry When I Remember This Love" in 2016, and his first lead role in a Monday 9pm drama since "JOKER×FACE" in 2019.

To adapt the drama, Nishitani Hiroshi, who directed the "Galileo" series (2007-2022), and Suzuki Yoshihiro, who produced it, teamed up.

In the first episode... Urabe Kanoko (Matsumoto), who lives in a rural village, has been able to tell when people are lying since she was old enough to understand. However, because of this power, the villagers hate her. Although her mother Urabe Fumi (Wakamura Mayumi) protects Kanoko, Kanoko decides to leave the village, unable to cause any more trouble.

Kanoko arrives in Tsukumoya Town. The words exchanged by the people passing by are full of lies. Anyway, looking for work, Kanoko goes to Rose, a cafe where there is a sign posted saying "waitress urgently needed". However, the waitress Lily (Murakawa Eri) turns her down, saying that she has just found a new worker.

Meanwhile, Iwai Souma (Suzuka), who runs the Iwai Detective Agency, takes his best friend, police officer Hashizaki Kaoru (Mikata Ryosuke), to clean up the Inari Shrine. In fact, the landlord from whom Souma rents his office also manages the Inari Shrine, and they have come to clean in order to get a discount on the rent.

When Souma and Hashizaki arrive at the shrine, they hear a growl like a wild dog and a woman's voice overlapping, saying "Leave me alone". When they enter the bushes where they have heard the noise, they find Kanoko ahead, confronting a cat over some dried fish. At that moment, Kanoko collapses from hunger...
