Actor Takumi Kitamura appeared at "FUJI DRAMA COLORS 2026 SPRING" held in Tokyo on March 2nd.
Kitamura, who will star in the Fuji TV "Getsuku" drama "Sabakan Go to Space," which starts on April 13th (Mondays at 9pm), will be taking on his first role as a teacher in this production.
"I joined the agency when I was 8 years old, and at this turning point in my 20th year, I've met many different teachers in my acting career. In elementary school, it was Satoshi Tsumabuki, in junior high school, Hasegawa Hiroki, and in high school, Akira Terao. More recently, although it's a special relationship, I had the opportunity to work with Takuya Kimura on the drama "Kyojo," and I learned a lot from him," he recalled.
He continued, "I received an email from Terao-san, and I contacted Takuya Kimura and asked him, 'Please tell us what you kept in mind as a teacher.'"
He said that the words he received from those "teachers" have "stayed with me even after I became an adult," and added, "I'd like to pass them on to the actors playing the students as a form of inheritance."
"Canned Mackerel Goes to Space" is an original youth story based on a true story about students at a fisheries high school in Fukui Prefecture who took on the big dream of "developing space food."
