Composer Yoshiyuki Kozu, husband of Meiko Nakamura, who passed away two years ago, will appear with singer and actor Kumiko Mori on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will air at 1:00 p.m. on October 15th.
Meiko passed away on December 31, 2023. She had called Kozu because she was not feeling well, and passed away while her husband was holding her in his arms. He recalls that the moment her hand, which was holding his, relaxed and she dropped, she lost all strength. Since then, he has been unable to stop crying, thinking about his wife, who was unable to do anything on her own, and wondering if she is in trouble in the afterlife. Even now, Kozu says that he regains his composure by talking to Meiko in front of "Meiko's Room," which serves as a Buddhist altar.
To Mori, who has been friends with Kozu's second daughter, Hazuki, since their 20s, Kozu is not only a friend's father but also a benefactor. Kozu was the first to recognize Mori's unique talent in the musical world, and even hired Mori, who was a frequent visitor to the Kozu family, to sing in the chorus for a stage production he was conducting. Mori was advised to "cherish individuality in these things as well," and says she is grateful every day for those words that have made her who she is today.
