It has been announced that the stage play "Future Boy Conan" based on Miyazaki Hayao's anime masterpiece "Future Boy Conan" will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW from 8pm on December 21st. In conjunction with the broadcast and streaming of the stage version, the anime "Future Boy Conan" (26 episodes in total) will also be streamed on WOWOW On Demand from December 1st.
The stage version was directed, choreographed, and set by Israeli Inbal Pinto, and directed by David Mambeukh. Actor Kato Seishiro plays the protagonist Conan, and former idol group Hinatazaka46 member Kageyama Yuka plays Lana. Other cast members include Kadowaki Mugi and Shiina Kippei. WOWOW will broadcast the stage play, which was performed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Playhouse (Toshima-ku, Tokyo) in May and June, on WOWOW Live and stream it on WOWOW On Demand.
"Future Boy Conan" is based on Alexander Kaye's novel "The Left Behind People" and was broadcast on NHK General TV from April to October 1978. Set in a world where humanity is on the brink of extinction after a final war, the story follows a boy named Conan who lives on an island left behind as he goes on an adventure to save a young girl named Lana.
