The 38th episode of the NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)", starring actor Taiga Nakano (NHK General, Sundays at 8 PM, etc.), titled "Harmony Creates Yamato," will air on October 4th. In this episode, Kano Eitoku, played by Tsurutaro Kataoka, will make his first appearance.
Kano Eitoku was a painter of the Kano school. He served Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and painted screen paintings for castles such as Azuchi Castle, Jurakudai Palace, and Osaka Castle. His representative works include "Scenes of Kyoto and its Surroundings" and "Scenes of Chinese Lions." He is introduced as the "key person for episode 38" on the drama's official social media.
This marks Kataoka's second consecutive appearance in a Taiga drama, following "UNBOUND~Tsutaju Eiga no Yumebanashi~" (2025). Last year, he played Toriyama Sekien, a master of yokai (supernatural creature) painting.
"BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" is the 65th Taiga drama. With Toyotomi Hidenaga (Koichiro) as the protagonist, it depicts the miraculous feat of unifying Japan together with his older brother Hideyoshi (Tokichiro) through their strong bond, a success story of dreams and hopes.
The script is written by Hiroyuki Yatsu, known for his work on "Hanzawa Naoki" (TBS) and the Asadora drama series "Ochoyan." The music is composed by Hideaki Kimura, and the narration is provided by actress Sakura Ando.
