Actor Kentaro Sakaguchi appeared at the "FUJI DRAMA COLORS 2026 AUTUMN" event held in Tokyo on October 3rd, which featured cast members from Fuji TV's October dramas.
Sakaguchi will star in the Fuji TV drama series "kiDnap GAME" (Tuesdays at 9 PM), which starts on October 6th, playing the role of Toshiro Shinde, a detective whose beloved wife is kidnapped and who is forced to participate in a life-or-death game.
When the drama's producer revealed that Sakaguchi had been working out during filming for his role as a detective with many action scenes, he confessed with a laugh, "Certainly, when I played the role of Toshiro Niide...the role in my previous work required me to be quite lean, so I think I was pretty amazing (physically). I shouldn't say this myself, but..." He continued, "I was really strong back then," praising himself and drawing laughter from the audience.
Furthermore, Sakaguchi explained that the reason for his physical training was, "It was a pretty tough role. There were scenes where I fought against various strong men," and added, "When the script said, 'Shinde confronts a strong man,' I didn't know what kind of action scenes they would be, but I felt I had to get in shape to make it believable."
"kiDnap GAME" is a major project co-produced by Fuji TV in collaboration with Makerville from Hong Kong and SimStory from South Korea, and is already scheduled to be broadcast and streamed in 18 countries and regions worldwide. The story begins with kidnappings occurring simultaneously in seven Asian cities, and the families of the victims receive an email asking, "How far would you go to save your loved one?" In order to save their loved ones, they must complete the tasks given in the game before the other contestants. Seven people of different nationalities take on the challenge of a game played under extreme circumstances...
