The final episode of the TBS drama series "Until My T-Shirt Drys" (Fridays at 10 PM), starring Yu Aoi, aired on September 11th. The "communication" between Mitsuru, played by Kenichi Matsuyama, and a boy he met on the bus touched the hearts of viewers.
◇The following contains spoilers.
Mitsuru broke up with Sakiko (Aoi) and left home.
Later that day, Mitsuru was on a bus traveling through a scenic area when he asked a boy (Shoma Kotobuki) sitting across the aisle from him, "Where are you going?" However, the boy didn't answer, instead looking down anxiously. To this boy, Mitsuru continued, "It's okay. When you grow up, you'll have more places to call home." The boy, touched by these encouraging words, smiled.
Kotobuki played Mitsuru's elementary school days in episode 7.
The scene in which the adult Mitsuru seems to be talking to his younger self sparked excitement on social media, with comments such as, "The boy on the bus is young Mitsuru!", "The boy sitting next to Mitsuru on the bus is the younger Mitsuru", "I wondered if the boy who was with him on the bus was the younger Mitsuru himself. He was saying, 'You don't have to be anxious, you don't have to worry'", and "Mitsuru's line about how when you become an adult you have many places to go back to is really great."
