The ninth episode of the NTV drama series "Confession - The Secret of 25 Years -" (Saturdays at 9 PM), starring Hokuto Matsumura of the popular group "SixTONES," aired on September 12th. Towards the end of the episode, the truth behind the death of Mariko's (Sae Okazaki) mother was revealed, causing a stir on social media.

Sota confessed to Mariko everything he had done to protect her. Mariko accepted his story and began living with him in his room, deciding to keep an eye on him to make sure he didn't do anything dangerous again. Sota's life was threatened again by Hatano (Yoji Tanaka), but he was saved at the last moment by Tomoya (Akihisa Shiono).
As Sota rereads his old diary, he remembers Mariko's mother, Kyoko, having a conversation with a florist when he was a child. He then notices that the same type of scar on the florist's arm is also on the arm of Detective Taisuke (Tetsuji Tamayama). He also learns that Taisuke worked at that florist 25 years ago.
Later, it is revealed that it was Taisuke who pushed Kyoko off the bridge 25 years ago. On the bridge, Kyoko was terrified, saying, "That's enough! I've had enough!" and "You're the one who kidnapped Mariko, aren't you?" Taisuke became distraught, saying, "Why... why! Why would you say something like that?" and pushed Kyoko off the bridge.
Social media was abuzz with comments like, "He's the most messed up of all...", "He's twisted," "This guy is seriously messed up," and "Wow, he was a stalker?"
Furthermore, the final scene, which showed Sota desperately running around with his inner monologue saying, "And then, all the secret doors were opened. But I could no longer protect Mariko," caused a flurry of reactions from viewers, including comments like, "He couldn't...?", "What!? Why!?", "What does that mean? It's too scary," and "Goosebumps..."
