It has been announced that "Dragon Ball Super: Beerus," the TV anime series based on the popular manga by the late Akira Toriyama, will air on Fuji TV on October 11th at 11:15 PM. It will be available for streaming on Prime Video and U-NEXT 30 minutes after the broadcast ends. "Dragon Ball Super: Beerus" is an "enhanced version" of "Dragon Ball Super." "Enhanced" means "to raise, strengthen, and improve." A large number of new cuts will be added and existing cuts will be redrawn. All cuts will be reshot, and new dubbing will be done, including the addition of background music and sound effects, to reconstruct the story.
A Super opening visual has been released, depicting Beerus, the God of Destruction, with a sinister smile as he attempts to seize Earth, along with Son Goku and Frieza. The Super opening trailer, composed of the latest footage, features Goku and Beerus, as well as Frieza, a new formidable enemy, and characters who hold the key to the story. It was also announced that singer-songwriter Megatera Zero will perform the opening theme "Onogami," and singer-songwriter Vickeblanka will perform the ending theme "Kanpeki no Peki."
Megatera Zero commented, "I've been watching Dragon Ball since I was little, and it has had a huge influence on my life. 'Onogami' is a song I created to express those who fight with their own strength, those who believe in themselves, including not only Goku and his friends, but also the powerful enemies that have appeared throughout my time watching Dragon Ball. Vickeblanka said, "As a boy, I would eagerly turn the pages of the manga and wake up early every week to watch the TV anime. Now, years later, I am truly honored to be involved as a musician! This is a precious song that I created by bringing out everything I had inside me, from the 'strength' and 'courage' that Dragon Ball has always depicted, to the 'sadness' and 'absurdity' that have always been in the shadows."
The original "Dragon Ball" manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1984 to 1995, and the TV anime started in 1986. The cumulative circulation of the comics worldwide exceeds 260 million copies.
In recent years, the "Dragon Ball Super" series, based on an original concept by Akira Toriyama, aired from 2015 to 2018, and the theatrical anime films "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" (2018) and "Dragon Ball Super: Superheroes" (2022) were released, both becoming hits. The franchise has continued to be loved worldwide for over 40 years. The completely new TV anime "Dragon Ball DAIMA" aired from October 2024 to February 2025, which also generated buzz.
