The eighth episode of the TBS drama series "Until My T-Shirt Drys" (Fridays at 10 PM), starring Yu Aoi, aired on August 28th. The "straightforward truth" spoken by Naoto Yano (Fumiya Takahashi), an employee of the coffee shop "Airplane," to Mitsuru (Kenichi Matsuyama) caused a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
Mitsuru gathered Itsuki (Ayumu Nakajima), Chizuru (Asami Usuda), and Miyauchi (Lily Franky) at the "Airplane" coffee shop. He was trying to uncover aspects of his wife, Sakiko (Aoi), that he didn't know about, and to find clues about where she was, so he spoke to each of them.
Naoto confessed that Sakiko had been moping around the whole time Mitsuru was hospitalized with appendicitis. "She can't live without you, Seo-san (Mitsuru). When Sakiko is in love with you, she really, really loves you, so I don't think she'll stop liking you so easily. She'll be back soon," he encouraged Mitsuru.
Then Chizuru asked Mitsuru, "But you're not running away just because you've come to dislike me, right?" Mitsuru replied shyly, "That's right. Disliking someone and running away are unrelated. Of course I like you too, Sacchan."
To Mitsuru, Naoto spat out, "Ugh, I don't care anymore. It's too much trouble to deal with the normalcy of someone with such a unique constitution. If you like me, then just stay together, you idiot!" and slammed the coaster he was holding onto the counter. Faced with Naoto's undeniable truth, Mitsuru was left speechless.
On social media, comments such as "Naoto's point is valid," "Is he speaking for the viewers? Lol," "Naoto said everything the viewers wanted to say, applause. His coaster throwing was great too," and "Naoto must have wanted to say this for a long time" spread.
The drama is an original story by screenwriter Miku Ubukata, known for hit works such as "silent" (Fuji TV), and this is her first time writing for a TBS drama. It depicts the "love" and "secrets" of two couples whose lives are turned upside down by a series of unfortunate events following a traffic accident.
