"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle bizarre requests and worries submitted by viewers. On July 17th, Detective Seiya investigated "a carpet from which cat hair endlessly oozes out!?" Actor Tomohito Yashima made his first appearance on the show as the special director, with Assistant Director Hiroshi Tamura and Secretary Saori Masuda also appearing.
The request came from a 62-year-old man in Nara Prefecture. The man has a black cat at home. He constantly uses a lint roller to remove cat hair from the 4.5 tatami mat carpet in his living room, but no matter how many times he does it, cat hair always sticks to the tape. Will the day ever come when no cat hair sticks to the lint roller? He wants a patient detective to be dispatched to help him with the lint roller.
Seiya, the detective with a cat allergy, approached the case fully prepared and began by examining the scene. At first glance, the carpet looked clean, but when he used a lint roller, a lot of cat hair came off. So, he prepared a large number of lint rollers. He gathered the client's friends and acquaintances, divided the carpet into 16 lanes, and started a massive lint roller operation using manpower.
However, even after using the lint roller more than 15 times, the dirt wouldn't come off. So, I sought advice from a cleaning professional, who told me, "You've gone beyond the limits of what you can do with a lint roller," and taught me a cleaning method specific to carpets.
