The 74th episode of the NHK morning drama series " Kaze,Kaoru " (NHK General, Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM, etc.), starring Ai Mikami and Juri Kosaka , aired on Getsuku , and viewers were captivated by a harsh remark Naomi ( Asadora ) made to Rin (Mikami).
Since the death of her patient, Yamamoto (Daisuke Honda), Rin has been struggling with questions like, "What is nursing?" and "What does it mean to help?" Her hands tremble when she tries to take a patient's pulse, and she has fallen to a state where she can no longer even wrap bandages.
One day, when Naomi visits the dumpling shop, Shimaken (played by Sano Masaya) comes in. She tells Shimaken, who is worried about Rin, about what has been happening. Meanwhile, Rin is trying her best for Tamaki (played by Ema), who innocently says, "I'm going to elementary school, study hard, and then go to a girls' school," but she is troubled because her work is not going well.
Seeing Rin in that state, Naomi visits Sutematsu ( Mikako Tabe) and asks her for a favor. Meanwhile, Shimaken comes to visit Rin. Shimaken asks, "Can't you take a longer break than just today?" but Rin replies, "Even though I may not look it, I'm the breadwinner of this household, so I can't do that."
Shimaken compares Rin's smile to an "Okame mask" and tells her he wants her to take that mask off. Tamaki then comes along and asks if they're fighting. Rin says it's nothing, but Tamaki worries, "Mom doesn't make that face when it's nothing." Rin cries and says, "Being the breadwinner isn't so bad," and "I even like wearing that mask."
The next day, the patient's condition suddenly worsened. However, Rin's hands continued to tremble, and she stood there helplessly. Tome (Rin Harashima) tried to encourage her, saying, "If you rest a little, I'm sure you'll be able to do it again," but Naomi said, "Rin, quit being a nurse," and with a stern expression, added, "Rin's circumstances are irrelevant to the patient. As the supervisor of surgical nurses, I cannot allow Rin to work as a nurse in her current state."
Naomi's harsh words resonated with many on social media, with comments such as, "I agree," "Telling Rin to quit being a nurse is the greatest kindness Naomi can offer her," "It may seem harsh, but it's absolutely correct," "Only Naomi could say 'quit being a nurse.' Naomi protected Rin," "Naomi's judgment is correct," "I think she's already asked Sutematsu-sama about how to handle her situation," and "Yes, it's dangerous to continue."
