Talent Yamase Mami, who is celebrating her 40th anniversary in the industry, will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on Getsuku at 1 PM.
Last March, she underwent surgery for uterine cancer, during which she suffered a stroke as a complication of the cancer. Although diagnosed with cancer, she said she felt positive, believing that she would be alright after surgery and treatment, as she had finally found the cause of her persistent poor health. However, she was unconscious for about a week immediately after the surgery, and had to make the harsh declaration to her husband and mother that she "might never be able to speak again."
She then believed the doctors' words that "if you work hard for the first three months, you'll be able to talk again," and diligently underwent rehabilitation... but this is something she learned later. At first, she didn't understand the seriousness of the situation, and only recently understood it after hearing the doctor's explanation. Her life was greatly affected, but she was able to overcome it with the support of her husband and mother. She says that she feels truly grateful to be alive every day.
