The drama series "Last Note," starring actress Yuki Uchida and Takuto Teranishi of the popular group "timelesz," will begin airing on July Getsuku on Fuji TV (Thursdays at 10 PM). The series depicts a love story between a man and a woman who are completely different in age and life experiences and who would never have crossed paths otherwise. This is the latest work from producer Reiko Misao, who has worked on dramas such as "Hirugao: Love Affairs in the Afternoon" and "Even If You Don't Do It For Me."
The drama's script is written by Tomomi Matoba, who also worked on "Otto yo, shinde kurenai ka?" (TV Tokyo). It follows Aoi Ichise (played by Uchida), a 49-year-old woman who has gone through marriage, divorce, and career setbacks and is living a "daily life of maintaining the status quo," and Sumiharu Higuchi (played by Teranishi), a 30-year-old man who has given up on his dreams and lives a life of "suppressing himself." After meeting, the two are repeatedly hit by difficult obstacles such as their nearly 20-year age difference and interpersonal relationships, but they are drawn to each other.
In the first episode... Aoi, who works in the sales department of a fragrance manufacturer, thought, "I don't need any more changes in my life," but she was offered a transfer to the general affairs department. Aoi was reluctant, but when she was told that if she refused, someone else would go, she suppressed her emotions and accepted. When she was told, "That's good. Ichinose is mature," Aoi had mixed feelings.
Meanwhile, Aoi receives news from her middle school friend, Sagawa Yuko (played by Sakai Maki), that she has a boyfriend, and she is overjoyed as if it were her own good news. Yuko had cared for her father for a long time and was finally able to see him through to the end, and she couldn't give up on her dream of getting married. Aoi remembers her own dream, but it was one that could never be fulfilled.
Sumiharu, too, had a past where he had given up on his dreams and was living his life aimlessly. Sumiharu's girlfriend, Rina Kijima (Hinako Sakurai), came to visit him at the house where he lived with his colleague, Ryuta Hirano (Takuya Kusakawa). As the three of them drank expensive wine that Rina had received from "sugar dating," they talked as if they had all given up on something.
Aoi, who has been transferred to the General Affairs Department, realizes that she is now on the same floor as her ex-husband, So Okuda (Yoshimi Tokui), who works in the Corporate Planning Department. Aoi is fed up with Okuda always smiling and talking to her.
Having experienced setbacks, Aoi and Sumiharu are both drifting through life. Despite their different ages and backgrounds, a certain incident leads them to make plans to meet. There was no indication of a romance blossoming there, but...
