The main promotional video for the second cour of the TV anime " Ace of Diamond Ace of Diamond Ace actII -Second Season-," based on Yuji Terajima 's popular baseball manga "Diamond no Ace," has been released on YouTube. The second cour will depict the final match of the summer West Tokyo tournament between Seidou High School and Inashiro Jitsugyo High School. The PV begins with Seido captain Kazuya Miyuki giving a cheer to his teammates who are huddled together on the field, and depicts the day before the match for both teams, including Eijun Sawamura realizing that they have less than a month to play together as a team, win or lose, and Tadano Itsuki, a second-year catcher for Inashiro Jitsugyo, who places his complete trust in Narumiya Mei, a selfish king but a reliable pitcher when he's on the mound.
The PV showcased a portion of the opening theme (OP) "NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN" by the band GLAY. GLAY's TERU, who wrote and composed the song, spoke about the feelings he put into it: "When you see someone struggling with trauma and suffering, yet desperately striving towards their dreams, shedding tears, what words can you say to comfort their heart even a little? I realized that even the person suffering probably doesn't know the answer, and I put into this song the feelings of helplessness that words cannot express."
Oishi Masayoshi of OxT, who is in charge of the ending theme (ED) "ROAD TO BE BLUE," commented, "I'm really happy to be back to Ace of Diamond after so long! For me personally, it feels like club activities are starting again, and I'm excited. I poured all of that unique blue feeling of Diamond into this song! I hope we can all cheer together again." Tom-H@ck added, "I'm happy to be back to the theme song of Ace of Diamond, a place full of memories. We created a song that is Ace of Diamond, and also very much like OxT, a song that makes you feel the blue breeze. I hope we can all make new memories together again."
"Ace of Diamond" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) in 2006, and its sequel, "Ace of Diamond actII," was serialized in the same magazine from 2015 to 2022. The story follows the protagonist, Eijun Sawamura, as he enrolls in Seidou High School, a prestigious high school baseball school, and aims for the top of the national high school baseball championship with Kazuya Miyuki, Satoru Furuya, Haruichi Kominato, and others in the baseball club.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2013 to March 2015, the second season from April 2015 to March 2016, and "actII" from April 2019 to March 2020. "Ace of Diamond actII -Second Season-" is a sequel coming approximately six years later, with the first cour airing from April to June. The second cour will begin airing on October 11th on TV Tokyo and other networks.
