It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime "Nezumi-kun no Chokki" (Nezumi-kun's Vest), based on the popular picture book series "Nezumi-kun no Ehon" (Nezumi-kun's Picture Book), will begin airing on NHK E-tele every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. starting October 3rd. A new key visual and still image of Nezumi-kun jumping around have been released.
"Nezumi-kun no Chokki" (Little Mouse's Vest) is a picture book written by Yoshio Nakae and illustrated by Noriko Ueno. The story, full of humor and warmth, featuring a small but kind-hearted mouse and his animal friends, has gained immense popularity. The first book was published by Poplar Publishing in 1974, and the series celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024. By 2026, its 52nd year, 44 books had been published, and it has become a long-selling series with cumulative sales exceeding 5 million copies in Japan and 16 million copies overseas.
This marks the first time the series has been adapted into a television anime, with the first season airing on NHK E-TV from April to June. Kenjiro Tsuda and Mamiko Noto voice all the characters, including Nezumi-kun and Nemi-chan.
