It has been revealed that popular voice actors such as Fumihiko Tachiki and Kenjiro Tsuda will be appearing in the film "Bayside Shakedown NEW: Run Through Metropolis!" (directed by Fumihiko Tachiki Motohiro, opening September 18th), starring actor Kenjiro Tsuda. They will be appearing on screen as members of the upper echelons of the police force.
The "Bayside Shakedown" series, since its television drama debut in 1997, has set itself apart from previous police dramas by depicting the hierarchical structure, power dynamics, and human relationships within the police force, creating a social phenomenon. The following year, in 1998, the film "Bayside Shakedown THE MOVIE" was released and became a massive hit, grossing over 10 billion yen. The second film in the series, "Bayside Shakedown THE MOVIE 2: Blockade the Rainbow Bridge!", released in 2003, grossed 17.35 billion yen and reigned as the top-grossing live-action Japanese film for approximately 22 years until it was surpassed by the film "National Treasure" last November.
In the new story, a kidnapping occurs in Tokyo. The kidnapper instructs the ransom to be brought to a designated location, threatening to blow up the city if it's not delivered in time. For some reason, he designates Aoshima (played by Oda) as the "delivery man." Furthermore, a series of murders using a 3D-printed handgun also occurs. A toxic virus belonging to one of the murdered victims, a scientist, has also been stolen, and the Metropolitan Police Department receives a threatening letter stating that the virus will be "released throughout the city." Aoshima, who has just been assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigation Division, is faced with one of the most difficult cases in history. In order to solve the cases, Aoshima and his colleagues race through the streets of Tokyo...that's the story.
In addition to Tachiki and Tsuda, Tomokazu Seki Seki and Kenji Nojima have also been announced as cast members. Tachiki will play the role of the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, Tsuda the role of the Deputy Commissioner General, Seki the role of the Deputy Superintendent General of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, and Nojima the role of the Director General's Secretariat.
