Actress Nene Otsuka made her first appearance in 24 years on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on August 5th, where she shared anecdotes about her husband, actor Seiichi Tanabe.
Otsuka and Tanabe got married in 2002. Regarding Tanabe's behavior at home, Otsuka said, "She's not much different (from when she's on TV), she's very relaxed. She's quite mischievous, though." She also revealed that their shared hobby is walking their 13-year-old toy poodle, "Mochi."
When Tanabe appeared on the program in April of this year, he mentioned that he and his wife own matching sneakers, but Otsuka is too embarrassed to wear the same ones. When they go for a walk with their dog, he lamented, "I'm the first one to leave the house. She checks my shoes and then puts on something different. Even when I think, 'I'll let my wife go first and then I'll wear the same ones,' she stops me (laughs)."
When Tetsuko asked, "Why don't you like matching outfits?", Otsuka smiled shyly and replied, "It's a little embarrassing to wear matching shoes together."
To avoid wearing matching shoes with her husband, she tries to get Tanabe to leave the house as soon as possible, but "sometimes he'll trick me and come back. When that happens, I think, 'Oh no, I've been tricked,' and I go back inside and change my shoes again (laughs)," she said, describing the "battles" that take place within their household with amusement.
