An original short anime series titled "Narumi's Weekdays," based on the popular manga by Naoya Matsumoto serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+", will be streamed on YouTube every Saturday at 8 PM starting September Kaiju No. 8. It will consist of four episodes.
A short anime depicting the "unpeaceful weekdays" caused by Gen Narumi, the strongest man in the Japanese defense force, has had its PV released on YouTube. Narumi shows various expressions not seen in the anime series. In the short anime, characters who have had few appearances in the anime series will also play a major role.
The main visual for the "Defense Force Bootcamp in Tachikawa" event, to be held on October 24th at Tachikawa Stage Garden (Tachikawa City, Tokyo), has also been released. The visual depicts the characters in autumn-themed outfits, a departure from their usual Defense Force suits. The event will feature a completely new, original dramatic reading. Popular events such as live voice acting and bootcamp activities will also be held.
To commemorate the birthday of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino, on August 5th, a birthday visual has been released. The photo shows Kafka in a playful mood, engrossed in eating, and is accompanied by loving messages from his classmates, Reno and Kikoru.
"Kaiju No. 8" is a manga serialized on "Shonen Jump+" from July 2020 to July 2025. Set in Japan, a monster-filled country where monsters relentlessly invade everyday life, it depicts the adventures of the protagonist, Kafka Hibino, whose body is transformed into a monster by a mysterious creature. It also gained attention when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Award 2021". The cumulative circulation of the comic books exceeds 19 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2024, and the second season aired from July to September 2025. It has also been announced that a "final season" of the anime is in production.
