NHK's history program "History Detective" (NHK General) will air "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!) Summer Vacation Collaboration Special: The Two Decisive Battles for Supremacy!!" on August 5th at 10 PM. This episode is a collaboration special with the network's historical drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" and will thoroughly investigate the two decisive battles that were essential to Hideyoshi's unification of Japan. Sosuke Ikematsu, who plays Hideyoshi in the drama, will also make a guest appearance.
The program investigated the "Great Return from Chugoku" and the "Battle of Komaki and Nagakute." In the "Great Return from Chugoku," it explores the skillful information warfare employed by the Toyotomi brothers that led to the victory at the Battle of Yamazaki. Then, it examines the "Battle of Komaki and Nagakute," a direct confrontation with rival Tokugawa Ieyasu. Based on the latest research, the battlefield is recreated in 3DCG to reveal the surprising reason why Hideyoshi's army was in such dire straits.
Maki Sakai, who plays Naka, the brothers' mother, travels to Yamato-Koriyama in Nara Prefecture to conduct on-site research. She explores places associated with Hidenaga, uncovering the secrets of his governing strategy. In addition, a special interview with Jun Kaname, who plays Mitsuhide, and Kohei Matsushita, who plays Ieyasu, reveals behind-the-scenes stories from filming.
