From August 7th, Friday Road Show will broadcast Studio Ghibli masterpieces for three consecutive weeks. On that day, they will broadcast "The Arrietty" (2010), which won the Best Animation Film Award at the 34th Japan Academy Awards in 2011, uncut and with a 5-minute extension.
The Arrietty family, tiny people who live beneath the floorboards of an old mansion, borrow what they need from humans to survive. Their rule is, "We must never be seen by humans."
However, Arrietty, a curious little girl, is seen by Sho, a boy who has come to their house to recuperate from an illness. A strange bond develops between Arrietty and Sho, but their interaction brings danger to Arrietty's family.
Next week, on Friday, August 14th, Friday Road Show will broadcast "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" (1984), a fantasy masterpiece that remains a landmark in Japanese film history, uncut and with a 30-minute extension.
