To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sanrio's popular character Hello Kitty, Seiko has released the Hello Kitty Shinkansen Watch Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary Edition, a wristwatch inspired by the currently operating Hello Kitty Shinkansen. It costs 54,780 yen and is limited to 5,000 units.
The dial has a pink and white gradation color, in keeping with the color of the Hello Kitty Shinkansen train, and a parabola that mimics the long nose that is a characteristic of the 500 series Shinkansen connects the three subdials. A gold ribbon is designed at the 1 o'clock position, and it features Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters, including Cinnamoroll and Pompompurin, wearing ribbon headbands.
