On December 13th, it was revealed that a completely new version of the popular game "Okami" (Capcom), which was released in 2006 and still has many fans today for its innovative system and beautiful graphics, will be produced. The launch of the project was announced at "The Game Awards 2024" held in Los Angeles on the same day, and it was revealed that the creator, Hideki Kamiya, will serve as director.
Okami is an action adventure game set in a Japanese world depicted with a touch reminiscent of Japanese paintings, where you take on the role of the "Okami" Amaterasu on an adventure to bring back countless lives. The game's unique gameplay system, "Fude Shirabe," which allows you to stop time and manipulate your brush to create various miracles, has also attracted attention, and even now, more than 10 years after its release, it continues to be loved by game fans around the world.
The "Okami New Work" project will be directed by Kamiya, and will be jointly developed by M2, Machine Head Works, which employs many creators who worked on "Okami", and Clovers, where Kamiya also works. The compatible hardware and release date have yet to be determined.
