It has been revealed that American saxophonist Kamasi Washington will be performing the opening theme "Vortex" for the original anime "LAZARUS" directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, known for the anime "Cowboy Bebop". It was also announced that the British band "The Boo Radleys" will be performing the ending theme "Lazarus".
A visual was also released depicting the painkiller "Hapuna," which has spread around the world as a "miracle drug" with no side effects, but which can cause death within three years of taking it.
The story is about a team of five agents from around the world, Lazarus, who are pursuing Dr. Skinner, a neuroscientist who developed the painkiller "Hapuna" that causes death three years after taking it, in order to save humanity. Character design will be handled by Akemi Hayashi, who has worked on "BANANA FISH," and the work will be produced by MAPPA.
Mamoru Miyano, Makoto Furukawa, Yuuma Uchida, Yuma Uchida, Manaka Iwami, Megumi Hayashibara Akio Otsuka, and Koichi Yamadera will appear as voice actors. The series will be broadcast and distributed in 2025.
